Corona Virus update:

Sadly and with very heavy hearts we have had to take the decision to cancel this year's Shrewkfest :(

We held out as long as we could but we have to consider the safety of our team, our performers and of course all our lovely ukulele friends who have made our little festival such an amazing success these past years.

All of the performers have now been informed and so far nearly all of them have responded to say they will be able to perform at Shrewkfest 2021 - so we will have pretty much the same line-up and tickets can be rolled over ...

If you wish to have a refund, tickets will be refunded via the original PayPal transactions - but please consider the following:

You can of course have a full refund of any payment that you have made to us,

however Paypal charges us a small fee for the original transaction which we don't get back

and though small it obviously costs us quite a lot when all added together and will have a knock-on effect on our finances

so if you are happy for us to retain this fee please tell us when you email us for a refund.

if you want a refund please email us on info@shroprock.co.uk with your ticket number(s)

stating which of the following options you would like to use:

1) Full refund

2) Refund minus Paypal charges

3) No refund but keep your tickets for the next Shrewkfest

Stay safe people and hopefully we'll still see you all in July 2021 - dates will be 23rd, 24th, 25th July 2021

PETER

MOSS

"THE PEOPLE'S
UKULELE MAN"

Peter has been playing the ukulele since his 8th birthday.
After mastering the basics, Peter’s father introduced him to his mentor, Ray Bernard, from whom he learned solo chord melody.

From that moment on, Peter became focused on this style.
He was also influenced by the recordings of Roy Smeck from the USA and this is evident in his concert material.

Peter was the first person to perform the William Tell Overture on ukulele at the wee age of 12,
winning a national competition against seasoned players! A proud moment for his dad, for sure!

Peter spent 30 years exploring other instruments as well and contributing to various recording projects.

Returning exclusively to his first love, around about 2013, his performance skills and his audience grew exponentially!
He and his ukuleles toured America and Canada, have been on BBC Radio and Television
and then in 2016-
2019 he engaged in a worldwide tour appearing at the Sunshine Coast Festival (twice),
Newcastle
and Melbourne ukulele festivals in Australia, New Zealand, and the infamous "Ukulele Festival of Scotland” (twice)

His concerts are engaging, many facetted, including humorous as well as intense material.
Always one with his audience, he is at home on the stage.

His workshops are varied and always enjoyable for all levels of experience.

Some quotes:-

I’ve attended several of Peter’s workshops and seen him perform numerous times.
He’s really rather excellent and makes learning/playing such fun.
I’d heartily recommend anyone to grab the chance to see him at a festival or workshop! – Christine M

I’ve been on several of Peter’s fun workshops and concerts. He is not only a really nice friendly guy but also a superb teacher,
his lessons always well structured and supported with take home materials, and if you haven’t heard Peter playing live in concert
then you really must if you can. I’m sure he must be one of the top performers in the world. No exaggeration. Oh and no I’m not his dad or his agent.
Just a really good friend and that friendship began with the ukulele. David B

I met Peter last year at the ukulele retreat in the Forest of Dean
and immediately felt I could learn and improve my playing from his workshop and teaching.
One soon realises how much more a uke can give. His energy and enthusiasm are infectious and his style of playing legendary. Cherylene D-B.

In my humble opinion, after seeing you in action in Florida where I live and in Italy at a ukefest,
your talent, teaching skills and sense of humour is the perfect combination that would be a big hit at any venue. You rock!!!! Audrey M.

We are also very excited to announce that our Friday Night headline act will be the amazing Opera-lele.
http://www.facebook.com/operalele       http://www.youtube.com/operalele     http://www.opera-lele.co.uk/

The award-winning Opera-lele has rapidly established itself as one of the most innovative and exciting new acts in the world.

Opera-lele is a unique comedy music act specializing in performing music from opera and musical theatre accompanied by
the emotionally powerful yet understated twang of their ukuleles!

Having trained as singers at the Royal College of Music and Goldsmiths College in London,
George Bartle and Amanda Harkett have gone on individually to forge careers for themselves
as entertainers of the highest calibre.

In 2016, Opera-lele burst onto the music scene with a Main Stage festival performance.
The audience was stunned and excited by what they saw and heard.
Opera-lele received a standing ovation and were described by many as the hit of the festival.

Since then, Opera-lele has been collecting standing ovations at festivals, theatres, churches
and even castles across the UK and overseas.

They have toured extensively around the UK with their critically acclaimed full-length theatre show 'Access All Arias'
and were voted 'Breakthrough Ukulele Artist' by the readers of UKE Magazine in 2017.

 Some quotes:-

“Opera-lele brought the house down with their clever and thoroughly entertaining show! Simply brilliant.”
Matthew Wetmore, director, Halesworth Arts Festival

“Opera-lele is like nothing you’ve seen before. Brilliantly funny and supremely talented. Bravo!”
Camilla Hastings, The Queen’s Hall Theatre

"Audience members and artists alike actually begged for them to return.
Opera-lele is truly one of the best acts in the ukulele world."
Mary Agnes Krell, director, A Grand Northern Ukulele Festival

"Vocal virtuosos Opera-lele stole the show for me with a heartwarmingly funny
yet totally professional performance that brought the house down."
Christine Turner, UKE Magazine

“A solid, brilliant, well rehearsed, well written, smart, funny, charming, professional
and incredibly well performed show.”
Mike Hind, International Ukulele Soloist.

Not Quite Dead Yet started in 2015 when 3 Old Punks from the West Midlands discovered they had ukuleles that they never played.
It started out as a bit of fun to entertain ourselves but has now escalated somewhat!
We started playing just Punk songs but now just play songs we like. We started practicing in a conservatory but grew pretty quickly so ended up in the local pub.
We were joined by a friend who had a double bass, another friend who played guitar and another friend of a friend turned up with a saxophone and later an aerophone!
There are now about twenty people in the band (no-one is actually sure how many) because if you turn up with a uke you’re in!

We have now started to write our own songs which we are hoping to record at the end of the year and are gigging around the West Midlands
Punk and Ska are probably our main influences, but as more people joined, more ideas for songs came too.

Not quite Dead Yet have been described as “a tin of Punk Rock Sardines spilling onto the stage”

Our main aim is still to entertain ourselves - fortunately people seem to like us too! Our motto is "This is not a Band it’s a Support Group!"
